In the age of the knowledge economy, which in training is treated as a necessary raw material for economic activities, education is increasingly relevant.

In an environment of increasing globalization of markets and outsourcing of production and distribution activities, associated with a high degree of specialization and increasing level of customer service, it is necessary to provide companies with tools that increase the competitiveness. As Peter Drucker once said, "the challenge is get ordinary people to have unusual performances."

In this context, it is increasingly relevant to improve the performance of company staff in any business area, and is easy  to understand that performance of professionals with more training or experience is essential for an organization to achieve objectives and critical to the success of business based in knowledge.

Currently, the paradigm of professional training in Portugal is changing and this is already seen as a important vehicle for valuing both people and companies, one of the biggest challenges that managers of Transportation and Logistics confront. The updating of knowledge is fundamental for everybody who wants to grow as people and as professionals, as well as for companies that claim to be more competitive.

The companies see training as an investment of value and not as a mere legal obligation. For people the wrong idea of “waste of time” was strongly lost with time, which is reflected of more open posture with they participate in training.

Factors that reinforce the importance of professional training:

Training along the professional activity is a good solution to raise productivity and profit levels and it is also important to refresh your knowledge. It can keep professionals up-to-date of last trends, legislation, technologies and practical requirements for their professional occupations, consequently contributing positively to the ability to innovate, adapt or even motivated the interaction between team, factors have proven to be truly crucial for businesses.

What is expected with the training is emphasize the image of the company and the team in the most varied competences. On the other hand, training also means that the employer who symbolizes the company knows the staff better. The application of the active methods, which allow the individual to develop more at the socio-affective level, leads to the communication and emotional skills are also redirected to the relationship into the Company and Person.

In investing in the development of your own competencies and skills of your team you will be on the road of success through a significant improvement in performance at various levels:

  • Development of skills and competences
  • Motivation, mobilization and teamwork
  • Delegation, feedbacks and assertive feedforwards
  • Improvement in interpersonal relationships
  • Achievement of competitive intelligence and systemic vision
  • Effective and assertive communication
  • Minimization of conflicts
  • Maximization and acceleration of results

If companies fulfil with the legal obligation to provide continuous training to their teams, they can transform their investment into the training of their staff, adding value to the organization. In this regard, and using efficient and effective professional training within the company, managers will achieve better results, both in terms of skills and productivity.
